About this Resource

Brief the children on how some views are accidental and have just evolved over time, and others were carefully designed by the landscape designers as a piece of living art.

The children should each have a picture frame, or show them how to make one by turning their hands sideways and using their fingers.

Ask the children to explore the landscape (set parameters) and use the frames to find views that they like.
They should consider whether the view might be accidental or designed. They should consider what makes the view so attractive.

Once the children have chosen their view, they can draw it.
Ask them to caption their drawing with a description of what’s so good about that view.
