    Educational Offer

We have an educational programme which we offer throughout the school year and during the Summer we also run family-friendly, nature-related events as well. (note on Covid19)

The school sessions are provided at Eastbrookend Country Park and Barking Park, plus the ‘Rivers’ topic takes place at The Chase Nature Reserve. Full details are available on our website: www.lbbd.gov.uk/the-outdoor-classroom where the pdf leaflet is also available to download (Download here).  The leaflet outlines the session topics that we are currently offering.

    Site Summary
    • 48.5 Hectares (120 acres)
    • The Chase Local Nature Reserve is managed by The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Ranger Service.
    • The reserve is divided into a wooded narrow strip along the River Rom north of the road called The Chase, and a large more open area with lakes to the south. The wooded strip east of the River Rom is crossed by a footpath between Roneo Corner, opposite Rom Valley Way, to The Chase road. A footpath from Dagenham Road to The Chase road goes through the area on the west bank. The southern area is bordered on the west by Eastbrookend Country Park, and is linked by a footbridge over a railway line to Beam Valley Country Park to the south.
    • It has horse-grazed meadows, shallow wetlands, marshland, ponds, woodland scrub, and the River Rom runs through it, all providing a diverse mix of habitats for birds and other creatures.
